Accessibility

Using this site

The standard this site is built and tested to, how that was checked, and how to reach a person if something does not work for you.

Mashmanim wants everybody ordering for a simcha to be able to use this site — including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader, need larger text, or prefer less motion on screen.

The standard we meet

This site is built and tested to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, level AA. Version 2.2 contains everything in version 2.1, which is the level the United States Department of Justice points to, so meeting 2.2 means meeting that as well.

We treat this as a requirement while building rather than as a pass to make later, and we understand our obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

What is in place

  • Keyboard. Every control can be reached and operated without a mouse, and the item you are on always shows a visible focus ring. A “skip to content” link is the first thing you reach on each page, so you do not have to tab through the menu every time.
  • Screen readers. Pages use real headings in order, buttons that say what they do, and labels on every form field. Icon-only controls carry a spoken name. The page you are on is marked in the navigation.
  • Contrast. The colour palette was checked by calculation, not by eye, against the AA contrast thresholds — in both the light and dark themes.
  • Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the fade-in animations do not run.
  • Text size and zoom. Text is set in relative units, so it grows with your browser or system setting, and the layout does not scroll sideways when it does.
  • Forms tell you what went wrong. If a field is not accepted, the reason is attached to that field rather than left floating next to it, and it is announced — so a screen reader says what to change, not merely that something is wrong.
  • Pictures. Every photograph carries a text description, and pictures that are decoration are marked as decoration so they are skipped rather than read out.

How this was checked

By self-evaluation, last reviewed on September 4, 2026. Every page was examined the way assistive software reads it — headings, landmarks, field labels, picture descriptions and the spoken name of every control — with the colour contrast calculated rather than judged by eye, and at phone, tablet and desktop widths.

If something does not work

Tell us and we will fix it, and in the meantime we will take your order the ordinary way — by phone, with a person. You never have to get through this website to order from us.

Call (845) 694-6141 or email orders@mashmanim.com. It helps if you can say which page you were on and what you were trying to do, but please get in touch either way.

You can also write to us at 37 Truman Avenue, New Square, NY 10977.

We treat an accessibility problem as a fault in the site, not as an unusual request.
